The Etchings Experience Package
In celebration of the 2018 Etchings festival this summer, we are offering an exclusive experience package for Patrons. Explore some of France’s most indelible places and personalities alongside the region's premiere contemporary classical music festival. Join our summer festivities as a Patron and attend festival concerts, lectures and masterclasses, meet the Festival Fellows you are supporting, access behind-the-scenes rehearsals, and enjoy a full program of regional tours, visits to Auvillar’s secluded sites, guided yoga and meditation, farm-to-table dining, and communal gatherings and soirees with the festival's fellows and guests.
About Etchings:
Etchings is the premiere contemporary classical music festival of France’s Midi-Pyrenees region. Hosted in the historic village of Auvillar and at the crossroads of the famous Compostella trail, The Etchings Festival is a one-of-a-kind meeting place for contemporary artists, musicians, composers and performing artists. Fellows across disciplines work with some of the great master artists in their fields, developing their craft and collaborating with others. The festival culminates in three exhibition evenings hosted throughout the village.
About Auvillar:
Perched on a rocky cliff, nestled between historic crossroads of Gaulic and Roman-Aquitainian cultures, near the Garonne, northwest of Toulouse and east of the St. Emilion region of Bordeaux, is Auvillar. A historic landmark at the crossroads of the Santiago de Compostela, Europe’s most famous pilgrimage route, Auvillar has had it’s share of invaders and conquerers over the centuries, from the crusaders to the Count of Armagnac to the Kings of Navarre. In the Twelfth Century, the city became the capital and property of the Count of Armagnac. The village became part of France under Henri IV. The region is now known for its viticulture, its hundreds of churches, monasteries and gites, and its proximity to the prehistoric caves of the Vézère valley.
Experience Package Itinerary:
Day 1. July 3rd
Morning Arrival to Blagnac Airport in Toulouse.
Etchings Staff welcome and shuttle to Auvillar.
Hotel Check-in.
4pm. Welcome Cocktails and Orientation.
7pm. Festival Welcome Dinner at one of the region's
finest restaurants.
Day 2. July 4th
9am. Guided yoga and meditation on the bank of the
Garonne River.
11am. Local tour of Auvillar's art and architecture.
12pm. Lunch at the Etchings Festival with Fellows and
Directors.
2pm. Experience the Chapelle St. Catherine, where
Festival Concerts take place. Etchings Music Director
Jean-Philippe Wurtz presents on the music of the
festival.
4pm. Reception for Patrons and Fellows with a
pre-concert farm-to-table dinner in the Village.
8pm. Gallery Concert.
Day 3. July 5th.
9am. Guided Yoga and Meditation.
11am. Coffee and Talk: Festival Guest Artist:
Martin Brody on Contemporary Classical Music.
12pm - 4pm. Regional Vineyard Tour.
8pm. Festival Concert & Reception.
Day 4. July 6th.
10am. Excursion to Moissac to visit the narrative
cloisters of Abbey St. Pierre.
12pm Lunch.
2pm. Guest Artist Talk: Colin Gee and The Art of
Staging.
4pm. French Cuisine Lecture and Tasting with Guest
Artist Apollonia Poilâne.
8pm. Festival Concert & Reception.

Before decamping for Auvillar, Etchings Patrons receive exclusive access at the Boston Athenaeum:
May 14th. The Boston Athenaeum.
Join the Etchings Festival Performers and Faculty for a drink after their performance of Michael Hersch's epic work Zwischen Leben und Tod at the Boston Athenaeum on May 14th.
Patron's receive 2 tickets for the 6PM show and complimentary after-concert cocktails at Kelly Nation, just across the street from the Athenaeum.
