Boston Athenaeum Residency:
Michael Hersch | Zwischen Leben und Tod
Our annual concert events at the Boston Athenaeum have featured works of prominent American composers paired with composers who embody the internationalism of Boston and the global discourses the Athenaeum facilitates.
Last season, we featured Michael Hersch’s epic 90 minute work Zwischen Leben und Tod at the Boston Athenaeum. Mr. Hersch gave a short talk about the work and we performed the work along with the original images by artist and author Peter Weiss that Mr. Hersch selected to accompany each piece.
Watch a short preview from our event below, and read more about Hersch’s masterpiece here.
We’re grateful to the Boston Athenaeum for incorporating our performances into its vision and mission of being a hub for the city’s cultural and civic discourse.
